Just watched this.

The nuns actually seemed to really like having us around.

Feel sorry for the local businesses but honestly can't see why people would go for P and M at Nathans then go to the OS

I still can't get my head round people lining up outside to get pie and mash on a matchday.

A lot of this was in that Radio 4 thing a few months back. Great stuff.

Every time I watch one of these farewell videos......

I'm gonna be a fucking blubbering mess on Tuesday night, I can see it now.

The closer it gets, the less I want to leave.

Was there anything like the media attention when Man City left Maine Road or Southampton the Dell? I certainly dont recall it.

No, but West Ham have a large and influential presence in the media.

That explains some of it, but there is also the effect of the romanticised east end that's been present since the times of Dickens at work here as well.

Those nuns are well cool.

Quite an interesting video presenting several viewpoints and opinions.

Loved that, totally different to the BT one.

I don't even remember that much fuss over Highbury, apart from their claret kit?

I was just going to say that. Southampton are a nothing team really, so can understand no national fuss about The Dell. City were still well in Man Utd's shadows when they moved, even though Maine Road was more of an iconic stadium than The Dell.

But there was nowhere near as much press coverage, nationally, about Arsenal leaving Highbury as there is about us moving.

There is something inherently interesting about the East End to the whole nation. Difficult to put your finger on it, maybe because of the genuine likability/intrigue for the 'cheeky chappy'.

West Ham, for all its charm is a club that has never threatened to be anything more than what it is. Most of the fans are realistic, down to earth, hardened supporters living in a world whereby money has (most of the time) propelled other clubs and their fans.

And I think thats all being recognised in the press and will be over the coming week..

ludo, maybe cos they were moving about 200 yards away I'm guessing.

Don't forget Upton Park was also bombed during the war, so there is a serious amount of history there that isn't just associated with football.

None of the other grounds were really surrounded by anything other than houses.

Some of my happiest memories come from the Sundays when we got up to Upton Park to join the queue for cup tickets...we'd leave the ground after the Saturday game..,have a few beers,go home to Hampshire and then be back in Green Street at 7 o'clock on the Sunday!
